"Restart" instead of "Shut Down"
My system is running Win98SE. When I try to "Shut Down", it does a "Restart" instead. "Disable fast shutdown" is already selected. Anyone know how to fix this? |

I tried some of the steps in the following link: http://aumha.org/win4/a/shutdown.htm Then gave up since it seemed to focus more on system freeze problems. But, I didn't realize that there was a Win98SE specific one: http://www.aumha.org/a/shtdwnse.php I'll have to try it out later. Also, I haven't tried the shutdown patch yet since some posts stated that it can cause problems. Is this true? "PCR" wrote in message ... "START, Shut Down"... can it be the "bolt" is in "Restart"? Yes, the first installation of the "Windows 98 Second Edition Shutdown Supplement" didn't fix the "Restart instead of "Shut Down" problem. I read somewhere that installing several times might get it to work. I'm not sure why though. But, I'll give it a try and if that doesn't fix the problem, I'll just restore the partition. You'll see others mention refer's to a web page for troubleshooting.
In my case nothing helped UNTIL I read the comment about "Allow LPT Interupt Sharing" as a sub-checkbox under "Legacy Emulation Enabled" found under "Settings" tab in the "Properties" dialog for my PCI128 soundcard in Device Manager's hardware list. It wasn't until I unchecked said box that the problem went away and she now shuts down or restarts properly as expected "Adam" wrote in message . com... My system is running Win98SE.
