Default Folders that did not restore

Hello,

I am running Windows 98se. My Girlfriend, bless her soul, created two
password based users, for she and I, and logged in using her username and
password. She then personalized her desktop by putting a couple folders that
I had there into the recycle bin.

I asked her "are you sure those will still be on my desktop?" So, we logged
in using my username and password and those folders were also missing from my
desktop.

We found the missing folders in the Recycle Bin, highlighted them and
clicked Restore. Of the four folders, only two restored!! And, they are no
longer in the Recycle Bin. Searches have found some shortcuts to some of the
files that were in the most important folder, but those shortcuts lead to the
desktop. Since then, about a week ago, we've continued to use the computer,
have removed her as a user (we still log on using my password).

Have those missing folders been restored to anywhere? Are they recoverable?

Thanks

You should have quit using the machine immediately as you may have
overwritten the missing files. If they can be restored, you will need help:

IRecover, $50 to $100, The demo version gives an indication of what
information can be recovered from your hard disk but data is not recovered.
http://www.diydatarecovery.nl/~tkuur...x.htm#irecover If your data is
valuable, the author of the software provides tech support should you run
into problems.

Recover4All, $49, demo will retrieve files up to 10 kb and show what else
can be retrieved. Retrieved files are copied to another drive:

Restoration, Freeware, not tried:
