Default start up disk

leon writes

yes before the formating and writing of the startup files a floppy disk
will work however after trying on a floppy when double clicking to see
what was written or trying to format results in a frozen screen...

i recently had to replace my floppy drive cuz it was doomed for the bin
after 6 years of use.,. now writing files is not a problem. however i am
guessing that whatever this ms'dos programs are being written to the
floppy must be corrupt some where along the way or the format program
that windows is using is having a few teething problems. however i can
format the disk when left clicking on drive a so i am lost....

i have considered that the two floppys that i have already tried are
ready for the bin..!

however i might be able to salvage them by using Linux.... wish me
luck with that!!!!!!!!!!

If you have not already, you may be able to salvage them by carefully
cleaning them. However, that may also result in the case of them never
working again which is not an unknown result of cleaning something.
