Same. I did it three or four times, also downloaded the zip,
extracted the correctly-dated file and manually placed it in the
Ad-aware dir.

Interesting that yours does behave properly.

I'm not sure exactly what's going on here, but this is obviously a variation
on the defs not being immediately available *here*.

I booted to Win ME and tried it with exactly the same result, excepting that
in XP I run Plus but in ME I run Personal (iirc I changed it in order to
rule out any bias one way or the other).

So, I uninstalled Ad-aware (in ME) and deleted the dir, rebooted then
re-installed and the same still happens.

I do now have a defs.ref dated 2nd May and a defs.ref dated 9th May, both of
which show in the GUI as dated the 2nd - and both of which are 612KB in
size! Obviously they're the same file but with different dates. But why,
beats me!

What, Noel? Behave properly?

http://download.lavasoft.de.edgesuit...ublic/defs.zip does now have the
correct file. This is a little beyond me, I think. Does one download the
date seperately from the file???

I've always found with Ad-Aware that updating does not change the defs
number until after the app is closed and restarted - I bitched about it some
time ago and was ignored.

Everythings working as should be here Shane, after first updating from
within the program clicking on the details button still show the old date
at the top but scroll further down and it shows the web update info with
the correct one which will be at the top next time the program is
launched.

I don't know about you and Joan, but after being blow-able over with a
feather that Ad-Aware's updater recognised the existence of an
available update the same day it came out, downloaded it, and
downloads a defs.ref dated May 9th, the GUI shows the May 2nd file as
still installed.
