Default JAVA / SYSTEM RESOURCES

I have recently experienced a problem when using a chat site that uses Java.
When I go to the site it drops my system resources dramatically and continues
to drop them until the system resources are so low it locks-up my computer. I
have used this site in the past and never experienced this problem. Even
when I close the site, my system resources don't refresh until I restart my
computer. I have downloaded the current version/update of Java, I run a
spybot and anti-virus program and nothing seems to help. Any suggestions.

I assume you're using Sun Java; have you checked their support forums for
advice?

I worked directly with JAVA technical support and concluded that the JAVA
version I am running is working correctly.
I don't know why even after I exit the site and even close Internet Explorer
my system resources don't refresh. I have to restart or shutdown my computer
in order to regain my system resources in order to run any programs. Any
suggestions to this particular problem?

The next logical step is to try surfing with all other software shut down,
especially internet related software.

We also need to make sure there is no malware involvement:
