still having vid adapter driver probs...

hi, ron, jeff et al. i've tried all your suggestions
video adapter driver problems and nothing has worked. to
refresh your memories, in order to attain my desired
800x600 and 16-bit, i have to reinstall the video adapter
driver at each reboot. i've tried removing everything and
reinstalling, removing everything and starting in safe
mode,letting the pc install the default driver and then
installing the newest driver--that hasn't worked [neither
has using the un-updated driver]. no matter what i do,
upon bootup, i have 640x480 and 16 color, then need to
reinstall the driver and restart to get the desired
result. the only difference is that now i don't get the
message stating that there is a problem--i just get
the 'undesired' resolution/colors and have to go through
the reinstall/reboot. any ideas [hope my description is
of assistance to your advice...]???
