Window Media Player
Using Windows ME, I guess I must have accidentally deleted my WMP. The
status is this: start/all prog/acc/entertainment/ sound recorder, vol control,Windows Media Player. Windows Millenium Peview. When I click Windows Media Player - it give me the Play Control where we do all the vol settings. When Iclick the Preview, it gives me a demo. Question is how do I get back my Windows Media Player. Do I go and download WMP 7.1 and just install like that. Please advice and many thanks for your assistance |

Windows Millennium Preview doesn't use WMP. What happens if you play a
music file such as one of the wav files in the windows\media folder? Depending on how long ago you removed WMP, if indeed you have done so, you could try using System Restore to restore your system to the state it was in before WMP was removed by choosing a checkpoint that predates the removal. Alternatively, assuming that you have never installed WMP9, download and install WMP7.1. If you have at some stage installed WMP9, then download and reinstall WMP9. -- Mike Maltby robert wrote: Using Windows ME, I guess I must have accidentally deleted my WMP. If I do Windows Update, doesn't it automatically update/install WMP9?. I
guess I will try to install wmp7.1 and if it doesn't work, will remove it from Add/Remove? Then install wmp9, am I correct?. Thanks "Mike M" wrote: Windows Millennium Preview doesn't use WMP. I guess I will try to install wmp7.1 and if it doesn't work, will remove it from Add/Remove? You won't find WMP7.1 in Add/Remove in the same way you won't find WMP9 (if you install it) in Add/Remove. Then install wmp9, am I correct?. Which is what I suggested in my first e-mail however you still haven't mentioned what happens when you try to play a music file, or a video clip (wmv, mpg or the like). -- Mike Maltby |

I installed MP7.1 but I cannot use it. When I click on the icon, its says an
internal error has occur. "Wmplayer has caused an error in WMPUI.DLL Wmplayer will now closed..." I tried to uninstall it but I cannot find it in Add/Remove program. What shall I do next. Thanks "Mike M" wrote: robert wrote: If I do Windows Update, doesn't it automatically update/install WMP9?. No. You select what you want to install from the items offered. As I stated in my previous post you will not find an Uninstall entry for
any of WMP7, WMP7.1 or WMP9 in Add/Remove Programs. Have you tried reinstalling WMP7.1? -- Mike Maltby robert wrote: I installed MP7.1 but I cannot use it. Robert, I'm glad you 'sorted out' your WMP problems...it would have been nice
of you to explain how you did so. Perhaps you'll 'visit' your thread and provide that information. "robert" wrote: Mike. thanks very much for your response and have now sorted out the problem.
