Log onto Windows password box appears everytime I start up Windows

Today I just changed the primary network logon in Network properties to the
Client for Microsoft Networks from Windows logon for the purpose of
troubleshooting a print sharing problem on my 98 machine. After restarting
my PC, the login screen to Windows appeared. As a result I typed in a
identical username and password to the one I was using in XP. It didn't
help me to resolve my print sharing issue with XP. Consequently, I changed
the Primary Network logon setting back to Windows logon and clicked OK. When
I restarted my PC, the same Windows login screen appeared for Microsoft
Networks. I just clicked cancel and windows loaded up. However, my problem
is that I can't get rid of this annoying Windows login screen at startup.
This window login screen should not appear when the Primary Network login
screen is set to Windows Login. I even tried restarting my PC several times.
Furthermore, I shut down my 98 PC but this annoying Windows logon screen
still appears. I even tried running msconfig but I could see any setting for
unchecking the Windows logon screen. I also tried removing the Cient for
Microsoft Networks altogether but I didn't succeed in sorting this problem.
Perhaps I should never have typed a username and password in the first place.

Although the Primary Network logon is now set to Windows logon in the
network properties in my Windows 98 machine, the windows logon screen still
appears everything time I start my machine. I would really welcome any
suggestions in sorting this problem.
