Considering USB PCI CARD
Currently using Windows 98SE.
Have 2 USB (1.1) slots Considering adding a USB 2 PCI card to provide 4 USB 2 slots Will adding the USB 2 PCI card interfere with the existing USB 1.1? Will I be able to use either/or and or both USB 1.1 and USB 2 without issue? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- My reason for wanting to add the USB 2 is I use 2 flash drives to back up small amounts of data. One of the flash drives(PNY Attaché USB 2 128MB) I can hot swap without issue. The second flash drive (PNY Attaché USB 2 256MB, will occasionally cause BSOD unless I shut down the drive attached. Was in contact with PNY technical service who sent me new drivers and a utility to do a low level format on the flash drive but issue still remains. The problematic flash drive was a newer version using different drivers than the first one. There is not a problem if I use the drive on my laptop with USB 2, therefore was hoping by installing a USB 2 card the issue would go away, unless it is a Windows 98SE issue. |

Considering USB PCI CARD
My crystal ball is blurry this morning.
Adding hardware that uses irq resources that may require sharing may be problem on your PC. Another scenario is this will not be problem. Another scenario is that the add-on will use resources previously not used which is no concern. -- Jonny "MedRxMan" wrote in message ... Currently using Windows 98SE. Considering USB PCI CARD
I also use Windows 98SE and had 2 USB (1.1) slots until yesterday.
I added a Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 5-port PCI Card last night. Initially, it showed a Resource Conflict but after reloading the driver, every thing now appears to be OK and working. (I checked first with Gateway helpdesk and they said that there would be no problem in adding this card.) Hope that this might help. Flusters:
Do you now have use of the original 1.1 plus the new 2.0 USB slots? "flusters" wrote in message ... I also use Windows 98SE and had 2 USB (1.1) slots until yesterday. MedRxMan
Yes. Both original 1.1 slots are working and of course, the new Hi-Speed 2.0 slots. Good luck Flusters "MedRxMan" wrote in message ...
