"A:\ drive not accessible"
I have a libretto 50ct, with a removable pcmcia floppy
drive. I can use boot disks on a:\ in dos mode, but I receive the "A drive not accessible" in windows. I can find the floppy drive controller when in safe mode only, and have not been able to fix the problem using toshiba's floppy drivers. Also, the pcmcia drivers appear as faulty in the device manager. Now, I don't have a cdrom, but I have a 98se cd. If the drivers I need are on the 98se disk, where are they? I have another computer I could use to copy the files to floppy and then copy them to the libretto via dos. |

You won't get the floppy working in Windows until the PCMCIA device is
working. And I suspect that the floppy will start working as soon as you fix the problem with PCMCIA. Try removing the PCMCIA drivers and re-installing them. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (DTS) "Scott" wrote in message ... I have a libretto 50ct, with a removable pcmcia floppy drive. Firstly, have you checked whether your machine needs the BIOS upgrade to
eliminate the problem of the boot procedure damaging 3.3v PCMCIA cards (Q265296)? If it needs the upgrade and it's not installed you should do so now and install the update if it is required. If you do need this fix, you must then check whether or not the PCMCIA card has been damaged. PCMCIA drivers (known as Card & Socket Services) for your machine are available from some Toshiba www sites. However, the site address is so strange and the sites are so badly organised that it's not possible to provide the address of the download you need. You should contact Toshiba to find out the files required. The software is licensed by Toshiba from the manufacturers, which might explain why they don't make it easily available. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (DTS) wrote in message ... -----Original Message----- The Windows CD Excuse me for chuckling... The windows CD was what I was asking about in the first place. I did A LOT of searching and found the pcmcia drivers in Base5 and Base6 in the win98 folder on the install CD. Thanks anyway. |
