Default Registry repair tools

Are there any native registry-repair tools, for Windows 98 or are
there any known/trusted third-party registry repair tools that are

Norton SystemWorks 2002 has several registry repair / optimization tools
(WinDoctor, Optimization Wizard).

Read the instructions (below) for details how to obtain and install NSW
2002. The registry repair and optimization tools are part of Norton
Utilities.

You might want to read the following first:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/183887
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/835823

Microsoft Regclean:
http://majorgeeks.com/Microsoft_RegClean_d458.html

Microsoft DOS-mode registry fixer / checker / optimizer:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/184023

-------------------------

The Norton SystemWorks 2002 CD can be downloaded from these links:

http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/7/...82/NSW02-A.ZIP
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/7/...82/NSW02-B.ZIP
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/7/...82/NSW02-C.ZIP
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/7/...82/NSW02-D.ZIP

The password to unzip each of them is "a". Each file is close to 50 mb
in size.

When unzipped, you'll get

NSW02-1.piz
NSW02-2.piz
NSW02-3.piz
NSW02-4.piz

Rename them each to .zip. They are not password protected.

Create a directory (name doesn't matter) and move files 1, 2 and 3 into
that directory and unzip them into that directory. There should be no
conflicts or warnings to over-write any existing files.

For file 4, move it to the \SUPPORT\IE5 directory and unzip it's
contents into that directory.

When you're done all that, you should have an exact copy of the
directory structure of the NSW 2002 CD. There should be 10 files and 13
folders in the root directory. 590 files, 41 folders, 207 mb.

To install NSW-2002, just run setup.exe in the root.

You can choose which components of NSW 2002 you want to install. Main
options are

- Norton Anti-Virus 2002
- Norton Utilitites
- Norton CleanSweep
- Norton (Roxio) Goback

If you install Norton Anti-Virus 2002, you should download and run the
following file to bring the virus definitions up-to-date:

ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/englis...ymcdefsi32.exe

You can periodically download and run that same file (it changes every
day) to update your virus definition files.

When you pass on your links to pirated software, remove the Microsoft
groups, we don't need your crap.
