Free version of Acronis v8
Hello:
Here's an item from the Win 98 general newsgroup that may be of interest to some. Acronis True Image v8 supports Win 98 thru XP, including ME. However, while it supports ATA drives, it may not support SATA drives. I'm not sure. It seems to be a multi-step process, to fill out the request in the link below, then to fill out a free registration form, and then to login and download the free version of Acronis v8 from the list of registered software, but it does work. Cheers, O.J. "Rick Chauvin" wrote in message ... Here's a real treat.... Once your account is registered, login to your account, click Registered Products, and then you can download the installation file from there. https://www.acronis.com/my/index.html By the way, the information that the agent provided is not accurate. You can still use the following link to get Acronis 8 Personal for free. Keep in mind that this is an OEM version, so some of the functionality is limited. For example, if you backup to a network drive, this version won't let you do that. http://www.acronis.co.uk/mag/pcpro/ati8pe |

Just FYI,
I have been using Acronis True Image for years and love it. Really a great app. It is a little 'odd' is some of the language used, don't remember the specifics, but, it is when you are performing the backup. Besides that little quirk, it is a very good app!!! I am still using ver. 8 and I have ver. 10 on the wife's machine, both being backed up to another internal drive, as well as, an external. I'm too cheap to spend $49.95" Oh, yes, 'fer sure.' They also send you a brand new machine with a 32" LCD monitor, your choice of an Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad-core processor QX9650 or an AMD Phenom Quad-Core 9850, your choice of red or blue LED accented Armor case with liquid cooling and it's own dedicated power supply furnished by your local electrical provider at no cost for two years. The machine has 8 Gig of DDR-3 Ram and will have the latest offering from ATI of 2 or 4 GDDR4 Vivo video cards, sound card and speakers (Dolby 10.4 Beta), a year's subscription to Computer Shopper, 4 years of free in home service w/live-in technician (your choice of Hooter's or Chippendale qualified), a Bentley limo w/driver, a new home in Beverly Hills Brentwood and another on your own island in the Florida Keys, and a Walmart gift card. Heirloom, old and I have some really nice ocean front property for sale in Oklahoma, also. "Corday" wrote in message ... Does a free version of Acronis ship with some brand of external harddrive? Actually I'm reading your replies on my Vista machine. My ISP can only offer
3mps in my area or I'd go for more. If you'd forget the sarcasm, Iomega does include backup software. I asked the question because I'm buying a 2tet hard drive and thought maybe Acronis had a deal with a hardware firm. -- Corday "Heather" wrote: Only in America.......LOL!!
