Getting rid of 98 password
i deleted the user.pwl file and have gone in to control
panel to be sure the profile stuff is gone. but the stupid thing keeps asking me for a password when it starts up. it has my name in the first box and nothing in the second. i just hit cancel what a huge pain this is when i just the thing to start up while i continue my morning routine then to come back and find it's still sitting at the password screen. there is no password to type in. someone else told me this was a bug in win 98 is that true? |

No it is not a bug. Is it asking for a
Windows, Client, or a Microsoft Password. -----Original Message----- i deleted the user.pwl file and have gone in to control panel to be sure the profile stuff is gone. but the stupid thing keeps asking me for a password when it starts up. it has my name in the first box and nothing in the second. i just hit cancel what a huge pain this is when i just the thing to start up while i continue my morning routine then to come back and find it's still sitting at the password screen. there is no password to type in. someone else told me this was a bug in win 98 is that true? . |

How to Prevent a Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Me Logon Prompt at Startup:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=152104 Follow the complete procedure in the article above....you are clicking Cancel....do not do that. Leave the password blank and click OK. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Auntienana" wrote in message ... i deleted the user.pwl file and have gone in to control panel to be sure the profile stuff is gone. but the stupid thing keeps asking me for a password when it starts up. it has my name in the first box and nothing in the second. i just hit cancel what a huge pain this is when i just the thing to start up while i continue my morning routine then to come back and find it's still sitting at the password screen. there is no password to type in. someone else told me this was a bug in win 98 is that true? |
