Default upgrade problem

my computer was window 98se and i was surfing the net ,playing games on yahoo with no problem. now since i loaded and installed window me on it, my modem can't be detected by system wizard or me . now i got window me ,but can't get on the web.. keep getting error message modem can't be detected. helpppppppppp. what do i do buy another modem? or go back to window 98se. or shoot my computer?/

Shoot your computer! Then upgrade to XP. But really, you should be able to
get your modem to work with ME. That is unless for some reason there is no
ME driver available and the 98 driver doesn't work. Have you checked the
manufacturer's website for an ME driver? Also, have you checked your Device
Manager? If not, right click on your My Computer icon and select
Properties, then the Device Manager icon. You may see your modem listed
with an error under the Modem category or listed as an unknown device under
Other Devices. If so, click on update driver to install the driver and make
sure that it points to your modem driver disk or cd during the driver
search.
