Default New system, blue screen, KRNL386.EXE

I am trying to instal ME on a fresh format, new main
board (MSI - PT880 Neo series. ME loads ok, then after
the drivers are loaded I get a blue screen with, Can not
find or load required file KRNL386.EXE Access to file was
denied. System boots ok in safe mode and I can take out
drivers for all the yellow ?'s but it still will not boot
up. Any suggestions on getting past this blue screen.
(the KRNL386.EXE file is on the HD.)

Hmmm - question...
How much RAM is installed? - if more than 512MB, reduce it to 512MB or less
and see if that helps

To run ME with more than 512MB RAM, you need to tweak the SYSTEM.INI file -
post back for instructions if you need them

Thanks, I have 512MB's.
When I go to trouble shooting and check, disable all 32
bit protected mode disk drivers I get the system to boot
but the CD-ROM drives are not usable. Nuts... I took out
all the devices except the very basics but then
unchecking the above box crashes the system again.

Reboot to Safe Mode
Open Device Manager
See what's reported there as being broke.
Remove ALL error-flagged devices - and any 'working' duplicates thereof
Remove ALL 'Other Devices'
reboot to Normal Mode - Windows should reinstall required devices - see if
that helps.
Reboot back to Safe Mode, and see what's re-appeared as busted/duplicated.

I know that Win 98/Me will restart on PCs with more than 1 GB of RAM.
