Default Can't Open Downloaded Driver

I downloaded a video driver onto my husband's computer and
now I cannot open it to install it. I even tried
the "Open With" command to no avail. I tried that with
the "Always Open With" box checked and it did not work. I
also tried it with that box unchecked and it still did not
work. The file has a "Windows" icon on it on the
desktop. I clicked on the "Windows RUNDLL32" icon from
the list in the "Open With" dialog box and it would not
open it. He has Windows 98SE operating system on it. How
can I resolve this problem? Thank you for your help in
this matter and may GOD bless you!

What is the file name, including the filename extension (the bit beyond the
..)? Where did you download it from, and what instructions did the site
provide about how to use the downloaded file?

.
I went to driversguide.com and searched for a driver and

that site redirected me to SIS's website. I then
downloaded it from SIS's website. The name of the file is
sis 630_730.zip. I did not look to see their instructions
for opening it. I just assumed that I could. Since it is
a zip file can I open it with WinZip? I have that
installed. Thanks for your help!

WinZip will open a file with the filename extension ZIP. I would recommend
creating a new folder (give it a meaningful name) and unzipping the files
into that folder. There will probably be installation instructions included.
If you can't get WinZip to unzip the file then it may have been damaged
during the download - try downloading it again.

If the file has a Windows icon that means that there is no association for a
ZIP file extension, so you can't just double-click the file. But if you
open WinZip and use the File / Open menu option it should work. Or Open
WinZip and drag and drop the file onto the WinZip window.

Mr. Richards,

I downloaded the WinZip program and was able to unzip the
file with that. I got it installed on his computer. I
don't know why I didn't think of that. I should have
known with a file extension of "zip" that it was zipped.
I guess that is why you get paid the big bucks. Thank you
so much for your help! I am so grateful! Now, I hope the
driver download fixed the problem. His computer was
locking up every time he would put a game cd in the
cdrom. Have a great evening!
