I'm guessing it's seconds
the longest one is InitDone = TSRQuery (time estimated) under delays, it shows the following: Loading Vxd=vnetbios.nxd 1.000 Dynamic init device PCI 0.944 Enumerating Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)("blah blah stuff") .278 Enumerating USB Root Hub (USB\ROOT_HUB\PCI"blah blah") .389 Dynamic init device PPPMAC 1.056 Initing esdi_506.pdr .333 Initing esdi_506.pdr .611 initDone=TSRQuery(time estimated) 1.722 EndTerminate=User(time estimated) ###.### The time on the left column starts at 20:44:56 and ends 20:45:03 then at the EndTerminate=User(time Estimated) it goes to 21:22:36 and has a long list of "Removing" and "Removed" things and ends at 21:22:36 -----Original Message----- The largest one was 1.722 Minutes or seconds? If minutes, then that *might* explain your "1-2 minutes just sitting there" But you need to identify the cause of the 1.722 at that point. What operation does it say is taking place at that time? Mart wrote in message ... The largest one was 1.722 -----Original Message----- Try http://www.woundedmoon.org/win32/boo...alyzer123.html Mart wrote in message .. . The first link doesn't work, page cannot be displayed -----Original Message----- Try Boot Log Analyzer (Freeware) from http://www.vision4.dial.pipex.com/ It might help you to pin down the cause of the slow boot- ups. (NB - it also works on WinME) Look at the 'Duration' column and look for an event (or events) taking several 'tens' or 'hundreds' of seconds, instead of fractions or several seconds. (5 mins = 300 seconds) Also see "Load Failures Listed in the Bootlog.txt File" http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en- us;127970 If you not sure how to decipher the results, you might need to seek the assistance of your local PC repair shop. To be fair, the BLA page does state that " ... interpreting the results requires in-depth technical knowledge." HTH Mart "ray" wrote in message .. . I just installed ME on a formatted hard drive. Everything is working good except it takes a long time to boot up. It gets to the windows screen and just sits there. The only thing on screen is a green background and the hourglass mouse pointer. The red light is flashing so it is doing SOMETHING, but I don't know why it is taking so long. It takes about 1-2 mintues of just sitting there before the windows screen finally comes up with all the icons and whatever. . . . |
