WiFi USB for ME

Ok I have a Toshiba 1715xcds Satellite with ME. I decided to try and use wifi
on it, so I contacted a firm explained what I had and ordered a Sabrent USB
2.0 802.11n adapter.
On receipt and on install I find that it is not compatible with the ME
operating system. On calling I find that since ME is no longer supported by
Microsoft there are no drivers for this or any other such units. And Im
recommended to change the operating system to XP, whereas the folks at
Toshiba suggest one not do so as it will not operate properly and may not be
able to get all the drivers et al to work properly in the laptop once XP is
installed wiping the drive.

So looks like I can not make the laptop wifi due to ME? Add to this I just
ordered a Dlink DIR 655 for my in house network which has cable internet
(Comcast).

Unless someone can tell me how I can make this USB wifi unit work with the
ME laptop,Ive got a big paperwight in the form of my Satellite laptop. I dont
want to endure problems if moving to XP is going to cause yet more Tch
headaches with the laptop versus ditching the unit and buying a new one!
