Default Windows Explorer view changes

I just upgraded to IE6SP1 and all went well except a minor
item. Since Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer share
the same shell, I am posting here.
Regarding Windows Explorer, after the upgrade my view was
reset to the default one - large icons. I opened one
folder, reset the view to List then went to tools - view
and selected the button to set all folders the same as
current one.
This worked fine, but my previous one exception was to set
the My Documents/My Pictures folder to Thumbnail view so
that it would preview the pictures. Previously, after
doing the above, I could reset any folder individually to
a different view and it would stay that way. Now I can set
My Pictures to thumbnail, but if I close the file and
reopen it, it is now back to List.
Yes, the tools/view option to retain each folders view has
a check mark by it, but it still does the above.
Does anyone know why this folder will not retain its
setting?
Thanks
