mouse freezes or locks up

Lately, when using word or excel or palying a game, my
mouse (Kensington ValuMouse 3button) will freeze up.I
haave to Con/Alt/Del or shut down to go back to normal. I
have lots of RAm and have cleaned up the start-up thru
MSConfig. Any ideas as to the cause/cure?

What kind of mouse is it - PS/2, serial, or USB?

Have a look at the mouse entry in the Device Manager to
see if there is any IRQ conflict with the mouse.

If there is no yellow exclamation mark against it, and it
says that the device is functioning normally, try
uninstalling it and allowing Windows to reinstall it.

If that doesn't work, try doing the Safe mode clean up of
the Device Manager detailed on this page:
