Default DVD Player for Windows ME

I have installed a DVD Burner on an old Compaq, but cannot get any of
several dozen DVD player downloads to actually play a DVD in that
drive (it is a commercial disk.)

DVDPLAY.EXE tells me I need to install a DVD Decoder, but none seem to
fit both WinME, my Processor speed (750 MHz AMD Duron, my video card
(8MB NVidia TNT2), and WinMedia9.

Am I just too underpowered to run DVDs on this old box, or is there
hope?

Brian,

Intervideo's WinDVD 6 has a minimum system requirement of a PIII 500MHz
processor. Older versions of both WinDVD and Cyberlunk's PowerDVD (v4
and/or v5 of either) have much lower cpu requirements than recent
player/decoders. For example I've just found on my bookshelf an unopened
copy of PowerDVD v3 which is supported on Win Me and has a minimum system
requirement of a PII 350. I used to use PowerDVD 4 on a PII 450 and that
was just about OK.
