Default NTLDR is missing? need help please

Computer was working fine one day, next day it says NTLDR
is missing, press any key to continue startup. Then says
insert bootdisk along with the 'a' prompt. Tried the
bootdisk and get invalid stuff. No commands will work. If
I put the cd in it goes to the setup which will work, then
restarts and goes to the NTLDR missing again. What is
NTLDR? How do I fix this?

Intel Celeron 566 mhz
