Default changing sequence of startup of applications

In Windows 98, how do I change the sequence of start up of applications
in the Programs\StartUp folder? Changing the order in the StartUp
submenu itself doesn't seem to do it.

I want a particular application to start last so that it will be at the
left end of the taskbar, right next to the Start button.

Thanks.

Larry

Not easy to do. Easiest thing to do is put a shortcut on your desktop to
the item, then start that after Windows has finished loading. Otherwise,
a script or batch file that is launched at startup and then
waits--Sleep(s)--some amount of time before launching the app.

LOL.

Once in a while i try to click-drag a taskbutton to rearrange the order
of taskbuttons on the taskbar. It hasn't worked yet .. but i know i will
try again some idle moment .. thinking: ¿who knows?, maybe today. :-)

It depends on why you need to do this.

If you need one application to finish before the next starts, then use a
batch file in the startup folder that starts each in turn. Use the WAIT
parameter with the first command. Eg

Start /Wait FirstApp
Start NextApp

I assume you are referring to the Quick Launch area to the immediate right
of the start button. If so, once the icons are loaded, left click the icon
and drag it to where you want it.
