Default Disk Cleanup doesn't run from drive properties

In Win98SE, from My Computer, C: Properties, Disk Cleanup button, I get
the following error:

Windows cannot locate the Disk Cleanup program. The program file may be
corrupt or may have been deleted from your computer. To reinstall Disk
Cleanup, run Windows Setup again.

Disk Cleanup is present and working on the system and will run from
Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup. Does anyone
know why it won't run from Drive Properties or how to correct this?

TIA,
Rob

Perhaps running the Repair option in the free MS TweakUI
utility might fix the problem:

TweakUI 1.33 - The latest version for all versions of
Windows from 95 to Me and 2000 -
