Do it in Safe Mode and make sure you do a scan disk first.

Reboot your computer and start hitting F8 until you get a list of options.
Choose Safe Mode, hit Enter and when it boots into Safe Mode, you should see "Safe Mode" on all four corners of your monitor's screen. Alias "R" wrote I have done the scan disk, no problem.
