Default Windows installer error code 1723

I have a machine with win98(2nd) and I am trying to install Symantec client
security v2.0 When i start the install it comes up with the following error
"Error-1723. There is a problem with this windows
installer package. A Dll required for this install
to complete could not be found"
I have tried reinstalling the windows installer but no luck.

Thanks for any help or ideas

We may need to know which Win98 installer.
There was an upgrade 3 or 4 years ago.

Why not unistall the Symantec junk and go with a CA EZARMOR solution that
does not junk up your registry? Sorry, I do not like Symantec and thus do
not deal with them with the exception of GoBack that was owned by Roxio and
was bought by Symantec (Norton). Finally, I do not know the answer to your
solution but still wanted to bash Symantec for their terrible home customer
support and their crappy products that are poorly written and tend to have
more registry entries than necessary. It is very annoying for me to clean
user's systems and go into the registry for cleaning the systems that have
had AOL, Norton (Symantec), Quicktime or RealPlayer installed on them at one
time or another. Also, I hope ViewPoint gets sued by Microsoft for
deceptively installing their product on so many systems. Does anyone know
how I can bring a lawsuit against Viewpoint on behalf of an individual or on
behalf of the Target Corporation? Thanks in advance for the help. Have a
nice day.
