Now that's really good!!! Responding to a question before it was posted. At
least that how it shows here.

Go to control panel, network, primary network logon and select Windows
Logon. Go to control panel, passwords, user profiles and ensure the "all
user's" box is marked. If you have a password established, go to control
panel, passwords, change windows password, type the password in the old box,
leave the rest blank and OK your way out. If you have forgotten your
password, delete the .pwl file with your user name (mine is ron.pwl);
however, be aware that you will lose all passwords stored in the .pwl file.
If you do not have a password established or have deleted the .pwl file,
when the W95/98 logon screen appears at boot, type a user name only and hit
OK. If the logon screen continues to appear and you have Tweak UI
installed, go to the Paranoia tab and remove the mark from "clear last
user."

If you continue to get a notice about domain name, post back.

snip

Psst, PCR. It always amuses me when I see the post in the Windows XP
general newsgroup about users wanting to dual boot with 98SE and XP or
wanting to downgrade to 98SE due to the higher system requirements of
XP. I have seen three posts about this in the past few days. I get the
feeling that 98SE might have a year or two left of usefulness.

I'm not making any estimates! We'll become popular again, as all the XP-defectors begin to turn purple & perish of the irradiation! (Dual-booters like Brian A. & Terhune will linger a tad longer, though.)

Be sure to put on your tinfoil hat, then, is all. And insist on 7 A's for each hour there-- no less!
