Driver or Setting?
Re-Imaged a Dell Demension 8100 Series PC with ME, which it originally came
with. After installing drivers for different devices I proceeded with the monitors drivers. After changing resolution to 1024x768 and rebooting, I get thru Windows ME booting up to the Network Password Box, which I was going to get rid of later on. I hit ESC or Cancel on the box and the monitor goes into like a hibernation state, and a message right in the middle of the all black screen shows "Monitor is working. Change PC setting." It will happen everytime I restart and bypass the password box. I go into safe mode and then get into the desktop properties, under Advanced. then Monitor to change the Hardware Acceleration meter to None. Then I would restart and get back the 16-Bit resolution(800x600). I've also checked and changed the monitor's power settings and unchecked its Enable Hibernation box and nothing. Basically, I can't use anything other than the standard VGA drivers. Installing others just gets me to that black screen. So my question, is it a driver issue or just some setting I'm overlooking. |

Driver or Setting?
Simple answer - don't bypass the login prompt! Doing so disables some of the
functionality of your system (including, as you've found) some of the display options. Instead, set the Default login to Windows, and log in with a username, and a blank password - you should never see the network login again. -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2006, Windows) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.crashfixpc.com/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "NiklasFury" wrote in message ...
