Missing Registry Key
I am trying to solve a problem in accordance with MSKB article 241344,
"Error message: The page cannot be displayed". Although, using a dial-up connection, the computer concerned (using Windows ME and IE6) will connect to the ISP, it will not open any Web pages thereafter. Step 13 in the article mentioned lists a number of Winsock2 registry keys that are located in certain registry keys which are to be exported and then deleted. I did not have one of them to export and delete in the first place: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\VXD\Winsock. Step 14 instructed one to remove and re-install TCP/IP to rebuild the registry keys. I followed that step, but the above registry key was not created. I have been unable to find on the Web any information which would permit me to construct the missing registry key. Can anyone assist me as what should appear in the missing registry key? Thanks in advance. |
