Default USB Flash Drive's Life Span

Hi,

I am a heavy user of USB flash drives such as the Lexar
"Jump Drive" 1G and 2G types. I use these to transfer stuff from one
computer to another, then delete (clear) the flash drive for more stuff.

What is the life span of a USB flash drive (example 1000 re-writes)?

Thanks in advance, Brad

Before you type your password, credit card number, etc.,
be sure there is no active keystroke logger (spyware) in your PC.

At least 4 years ago there were announced more than 1 000 000 cycles for a
flash memory (the central part of an USB flash drive). I don't thing this
value became noticeably less since than.

That does not means though, that any _concrete_ drive won't fail before this
value is reached: it is the average write cycles value.

From anecdotal evidence, most such drives don't come anywhere near those
numbers.

Hi, Mikhail!!!
