Default Wireless connection using /USR 5422 USB

Trying to set up my daughters old GW(2000) with 98SE using a USR5422 USB
adaptor to connect to internet through Actiontec GT701-WG. Machine was
previously connected through ComCast.
Loaded program and connected the adaptor. When computor is restarted, it
either continually restarts or hangs. Have uninstalled and reinstalled the
program using two seperate discs. Have switched the adaptor with one on a GW
running ME, where both work fine.
Checked Network Settings and the USR5422 is listed, but has only binding
with IEEE 801.1x. It does not have a binding to TCP/IP.
Went to add protocol, but only IEEE 801.1x listed, no TCP/IP listing. No
manufacturer listings either. Any ideas?
