Will someone tell me how to convert a .doc file to a .jpg file the simplest
way?

Thanks in advance!

P.S. Sorry if this is not where I should have posted it. I did not know
where to ask this question.

A .doc file is a Word text file although it may contain images. A jpg is
an image file. I'm not sure why you might want to make an image file from
a document however I often do something similar which is to make a PDF
document from my Word Processing files so that others using a different WP
application can read my documents. Word doesn't have a PDF creator built
in but there are a number of suitable free applications you can use
including PDF Creator (http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/).

Other alternatives might be to print your document and then scan to jpeg.

I created two .doc files with images that I would like to convert to .jpg so
they may be processed as 8x10 photos.

In which case I would suggest you use a more appropriate method such as a
graphics application and then add any required test. Word documents are
not designed to be converted in the way you appear to want.

Install FinePrint: http://www.fineprint.com/products/fineprint/
(this is virtual printer).

Print from word to this printer (called FinePrint).
In the preview dialog, press on button "Save ..."
and select type JPEG and set quality and resolution.
Crop the resulting image to remove unnecessary
white space (I use IrfanView):

Regards, Roman

Thanks in advance!

That's a new one for me. I've only ever needed to product PDFs rather
than JPGs from WP documents so have used PDF Creator which works in a
similar fashion to fineprint.

If you have a photo program, such as Photo Impact, or any of the others with
a "screen capture" capability, you can capture the image and save it to the
format of your liking. Although a bigger file, you might find that saving
the .doc file to .bmp will render a better print, as .jpg is considered a
"lossey file." (some of the picture data is lost each time the file is
saved)
Heirloom, old and worked for me

H,
One only needs to use PrntScrn or Alt-PrntScrn if screen or windows
capture is all you want to do but I'm not sure it would be of much use
here since the resolution wouldn't be that good and depending on the users
screen possibly not all of a page would be displayed and hence captured in
a single shot.

A BMP file might not be lossy but at 72 dpi or whatever is going to make
for a pretty ropey print.

I am ashamed to say that I have had FinePrint for 7 years and wasn't
aware it did that.
