Default clean install of Win2K

I just about given up on trying to do a clean install of my Win Me system. My
Win Me system was packaged with an IBM NetVista desktop with IBM recovery
CDs. I do have (from work) a WIN 2K install CD (with key). Can I do a clean
install of WIN 2K (after FDISK (SINGLE PARTITION) , FORMAT) or would the IBM
NetVista be looking ("hardcoded") for the WIN Me system and not let me
install anything else? Any cleaning out of the hard drive I need to do to
completely eliminate Win Me? I hope I can do this because I've given up on
WIN Me. Thanks for your help....Desparate
