Blank screen
I am trying to help my sister out with her computer. It
really has me stumped. The screen is going blank so to speak. Like with Yahoo Messenger, the window will be there but no words come up, and with games the screen itself looks okay but the cards, or dice or whatever pieces are not showing. Never seen this before. Any ideas? Thanks |

Any ideas? A long shot but it's not something simple like the text colour being set to the same as the background? Right-click on the desktop and select properties, go to the appearance tab and check that the 2 colours for the window object are not the same. Does it happen in all applications? Try your wordprocessor, notepad, email, image viewer. Do you just see the window frame? the menu bar? any toolbars? From what you said about games it sounds as though its more drastic. The above fix would only be a possibility if it was just text that was missing. Does anything work as expected? Is the taskbar and start menu ok. Dispite all these clarifying questions, I don't actually have any useful answers! Sorry. Hopefully someone else will come up with a suggestion. --- Al. |

Blank screen
thank you but no this is not the problem. It starts
happening after i have been playing a game for awhile. So far the worst place it is happening is with yahoo applications and games. That's where it starts anyway and then seems to affect everything, the computer seems to start to bog down in general. thanks |

That's where it starts anyway and then seems to affect everything, the computer seems to start to bog down in general. So it's not just one particular game and it's not just Yahoo games & apps but those are the worst offenders. Is it just with games and apps that you're running from websites or does it happen when running stuff on your PC as well. Does it still happen if you never connect to the internet and just run stuff on your PC, like your wordprocesser, Freecel, Minesweeper etc? If its confined to websites, have you tried using a different browser? Sorry I'm not offering solutions (I'm unlikely to have a final answer) but narrowing it down may help someone else to pinpoint it. --- Al. |
