By using another PC and downloading anything you need from the Windows
Update Catalogue
(http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...en/default.asp) and then
transferring the files to your Win Me machine and running them there.
However if the laptop never goes on line few of the patches will be needed
although I would urge you to install the 290700 patch for system restore
which is otherwise useless without it.

You download the patches you need from the Windows Update Catalogue and
then copy them to the machine running Win Me that has no internet
connection and install them there. Alternatively you could use the
Microsoft Download Centre but I would recommend sticking with the Windows
Update Catalogue. My earlier post gave you the link to use to access the
catalogue. Note the inclusion of the word CATALOGUE, this is not the same
site as the normal Windows Update site. You can download patches for all
flavours of systems ranging from Win98 to XP. The patches download as
files which you can then copy by whichever means takes your fancy to the
PC without an internet connection.

Why not visit the Windows Update Catalogue and check for yourself?

They do not automatically install from the Catalog. They are executables
that you must double click or run to install.
This way one can save them or burn to a CD, and have on hand when needed.
Got it now ?
