Default Fatal exception 0E has occurred at 0028:00000017

Hello all,

In reply to Dan & AlmostBob re my post of 20 Jan 2005.

Thanks for replies. I Googled again with zero & it brought up the same
stuff - no useful info as far as I can see.

System specs below.

I ran the directx (9c) diagnostic tool and it came up with a dialog box:

"Dxdiag has detected that there may have been a problem accessing Directshow
the last time this program was used. Would you like to bypass Directshow
this time?"

A similar dialog box also appeared for Directplay. If I tell it to NOT
bypass, a blue screen appears with the message "Fatal exception 0E has
occurred at 0028:00000017 etc etc" - same as original fatal exception
message.

Could this be the real problem as decribed in my original message ? I have
no idea what directplay & directshow do and have never bothered about issues
with them because my system works fine.

If directshow/directplay may be an issue, how do I fix.

Thanks for your time & help.

PS: I know there is a directx newsgroup, but it is unavailable at this time
& I don't want to send multiple message to other newsgroups without finishing
this one first.

Have you tried to reinstall, Direct X 9.0c? This sometimes fixes problems
associated with DirectX.

Have reinstalled Directx 9.0c from the "Sims2" game disk. the problem with
direct show is still present.

newsgroups being unavailable?
