Automatically Bypass "New Hardware Found.."

Hi,
I recently bought a Zonet ZUH2215V USB 2.0 PCI host controller for
my Win98se/WinXP dual boot desktop.

I didn't need a driver for this using WinXP. However, if I launch
Win98, of course it is detected and a "New Hardware Found.." prompt
appears. This device is not Win98 compatible (no driver), which is fine with
me since I have other USB ports (1.1) I can use, although slower.

I know I can click the "cancel" button to skip, but it will always
show up each time I bootup the Win98 partition.

Is there a way to turn off New Hardware detection or get
Win98 to ignore a particular hardware?

My first comment is: Why on earth would you suffer and put up with the
obviously slow performance of running Win-XP on a system that is so
ancient that it doesn't have USB 2.0 ports? Such a machine (that has
USB 1.0 ports) must be 10 to 12 years old.

My second comment: why don't you either check the 3" CD disk that came
with the card for win-98 drivers, or download the drivers from he

If you ever need to do that, go to the devicer manager, look at the hardware
list for somethign not installed, after you bypass it as usual. To make the
bypass stick, use 'Disable in this hardware profile' if you think you'll ever
have a chance of using it later, or use the other option below that to remove
it permanently.

You might be able to do that (NOT recommended though) by removing this key
from the registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\Root\SwEnum\0000]
"HardwareID"="SWENUM"

This IS required as first base before any hardware detecting will happen in a
minimal W98 install, but I have no idea what happens if you remove it from a
full default install such as most people will make.
