win98 ignores my gateway setting
On my local network there are 2 DHCP servers,
one good, and one bad I can neither disable nor remove as it's in a switch. I set "gateway" pointing to the good DHCP server, yet Win98 still goes to the bad one and gets its DHCP IP from there. Is there any way to tell Win98 to go to a specific DHCP server first? |

No, there is not. DHCP works on a "broadcast" system - your computer sends
out a request for an address and the first DHCP server to answer gets to assign the address. This cannot be changed. -- Richard G. Thanks. That sucks. :-( I like DHCP a lot better
because I don't need to worry about IP assignments, but I guess I need to go to static until I can remove the extra DHCP server. "Richard G. Harper" wrote in message ... No, there is not. Yep, that would be your only option. Sorry.
