The msi installation fails, but the necessary files will copied into the
macromedia folder.
Before you register the file "Flash32_11_9_900_117.ocx",
you must set the compatibility mode to 2k or XP, otherwise the
registration fails.

Run regsvr32.exe Flash32_11_9_900_117.ocx "

I used " install_flash_player_11_active_x.msi " file.
And in deed error 1722 occured while leaving this content added to the flash
directory:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MACROMED\FLASH\FlashUtil32_11_9_ 900_117_ActiveX.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MACROMED\FLASH\Flash32_11_9_900_ 117.ocx
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MACROMED\FLASH\FlashUtil32_11_9_ 900_117_ActiveX.exe

Flash32_11_9_900_117 is now in system\macromed\flash folder to be registred,
but when running,
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MACROMED\FLASH\Flash32_11_9_900_ 117.ocx" reports regsrv32
error
"Loading of library of (flash32_11_9_900_117.ocx) failed - can not find one
of recuired library files for this application. - A device connected to the
system does not work."

:-(

Someone (somewere ?) succeded with this for ie6 on win98ME.

Anyone an idea how to replicate this feat?

TIA,
Luc.

I have flash version 11.8.800.175 installed for IE6, and version
11.6.602.171 working for Firefox 2.0.0.22 (bon echo).

The last time I tried to install a newer version of flash is when
version 11.8.800.175 was the most current version, and (as you can see
above) it worked for IE, but at the time I wasn't able to get FF working
with anything higher than 11.6.602.

On a side note - do you have a good reason for wanting the newest flash
running under IE6? I ask because you should not be using IE6 as your
main browser for windows 98, and hence you should not be concerned about
keeping IE6 up to date when it comes to flash.
