Default Problem with a fixed-IP address in the LAN

Your settings all look good them. I've got nothing more I can add but when
you solve this, please make sure you let us all know what the solution was.

BTW, I don't think it was clear whether another PC could ping your problem
PC. Can it? And if so, could the second PC use resources on the problem
PC?

No, at moment I have no solution.
The notebook works fine when I let assign the IP automatically, but no
chance with fixed-IP.

NO, no PC can ping the problem notebokk.
ANd from the problem notebook I cannot ping the other PCs: I can just
ping the notebook itsself when I ping its addres (in this case works, of
course)

I'll try in the next days with a WLAN adapter....

It's not a Compaq by any chance is it? I've noticed on mine that it does
something with DHCP on boot up at the BIOS level, although I always use DHCP
so don't know whether this causes problems or not.
