Default No internet following Madge/TR pcmcia install

I have several NICs installed on my Dell Latitude 300 Laptop. On two
occasions After installing a madge Tokenring Card I can no longer
access the internet using any of the pcmcia nic cards. I can see the
local network stations, servers and can ping the gateway and router
but the browser will not open a web site or the local webpage on the
router. Is this a Winsock error? Can some one explain to me how to fix
a winsock error.

On a previous occasion after uninstalling all cards and applications,
the only way I could repair this error was to completely reinstall
win98.
