Blue Screen of Death on Bootup
Last night my comp froze on me. I was forced to reboot,
and now upon booting up i get a blue screen of death right before it is about to load up my icons and what not on the desktop telling me the following error message: FATAL EXCEPTION 0E HAS OCCURED AT 0028:C02A026C IN VXD VWIN32(05) + 00000BF4. It then just sits there and I am unable to do anything. I have tried booting up in safe mood yet it still occurs. Any help would be great guys. Thanks! |

I would try restoring the previous registry backup (if you are able to),
unless you have made major changes to your computer since yesterday (like installing a new version of IE, or whatever). In DOS, you type scanreg /restore, and pick a date that precedes the problem. You may need to use a DOS bootup disk (in your particular case), since you say it goes to blue screen right away. If you still end up staying in safe mode, you may need to check the msdos.sys and/or config.sys and/or autoexec.bat line entries. JBarnett wrote: Last night my comp froze on me. Oh yeah, I just remembered, just as you are booting up, if you press the F8
key (or whatever it is in your system), you should be able to get to that menu that WILL allow you to boot into DOS mode (no windows), and then you can try running the scanreg/ restore thing mentioned below and see if that resolves your problem (unless you can identify it and troubleshoot it in some other way).
