When I first turn on the computer and it is loading up,
there is a black screen which stays up for a couple of
seconds. This screen in the middle has a statement "Bad
Command or file name". How can I get rid of that?
I think it is related to scan-disk. Whenever I run Disk
Cleanup, it says scanning Old Scan disk in the root folder?

This is a DOS error message (thus is not related
to any Windows app) probably caused by your
AUTOEXEC.BAT. But Win98 does not need
AUTOEXEC.BAT. (Win95 did, so it remains
available in Win98.) The simplest cure is to
rename AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS
and reboot. Perhaps you need neither.
