Should I run Norton Systemworks 2004?
More than a month ago I was running Norton SystemWorks 2004 on my computer
with Win98 when my hard drive died. Granted, the drive was over four years old and had run past its warranty period, but I've heard a couple of rumors that this program is not good to run with ME. Is it okay to run with ME, or should I get something else instead? I sure don't want to go through another hard-drive crash. Much appreciate any and all opinions on this. Thanks!!! Matt J. McCullar |

No Symantec product runs well on Win Me and it is questionable whether any
product bearing the name Symantec produced in the last ten years works properly on any operating system. Personally, and very much my own personal opinion, if you value both your sanity and your computer have little or nothing to do with any product sold by Symantec. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Matt J. You're the luck one then - as many of the first-time visitors here have
problems with it (or at least with LiveUpdate - which is essential for the good operation of the virus scanner [at least for the newbie]) -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2005, Windows) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "E. Okay, I've got a little more data on the problem I've been having. Upon
seeing the Control Panel screen, I get the following error message in a little window in the middle of the screen: "Runtime error 216 at 00005D88" I can click "OK," and it goes away. A friend at work recommends Trend Micro 2004 as a firewall, anti-virus and spam filter. Any comments on this? Many thanks, y'all!!!!! Matt J. McCullar |
