Default wucrtupd invalid page fault

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what this error is-
WUCRTUPD caused an invalid page fault in module WS2_32.dll?
My computer constantly hangs up and I don't know if it's
getting old or an IE problem or what. Can anyone tell me
if this might be it? I've tried virus scans etc...but it
still happens. I'm surprised I can do this at the moment
without it hanging. I'm not online long enough to
research further.
Thanks,
Roseanne

Uninstall the Critical Update Notification Tool from Add/Remove Programs.
Reboot. If the system is now stable you can consider re-installing it at
the Windows Update site.

Thanks Richard,
I did as you said and also downloaded adaware which found
almost 500 items to delete. Just wondering why Mcafee
virus scan finds adaware a spy program and says to delete
it?

Because it sees possible threats based on the signature files that both
programs use. Both spot unwanted software by looking for common components,
or by digital 'signatures' within the programs. If McAfee sees a signature
in the AdAware file that it thinks could be a virus it will report it, even
though it's not the virus itself, just the signature used to identify it.

I use AdAware on a regular basis on every computer in my home and have the
utmost trust in it.
