Default Changing the video display

A friend of mine had her resolution set at 800x600. She installed a new tax
program and was having trouble so she uninstalled the tax program. Now she
can't get her display back to 800x600. When she tries she clicks apply then
ok. Then she is told to restart her computer. She does this and the display
hasn't changed. I haven't had Windows 98 for a while and am having a hard
time helping her.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
