Harry,
I did a little looking through Google......as best I can tell, the "freebie" (that you are paying for in the shipping and handling +), is an old version 3 of a newer program RestoreIt version 5, retailing for $39.95. Couldn't find anything about it in Google Groups....that's a little suspicious. For my money, if I had 'stumbled across it'...I would pick myself up and keep walking. Then again, I know absolutely nothing about it, so, it is just my opinion....nothing based on fact. I went with Acronis after doing a few days of research on back up apps......it kept popping up as one of the best. Norton Ghost was mentioned a lot, as well, but, Acronis was much faster, much smaller, half the price and had more kudos. I've been most happy with it. I wasn't about to get it, H. Just informational. On the other hand there is one you can try for free: "Image for Windows". I am testing this one. Didn't get into details yet, but seems allright so far. Let me know what you find out about it. Harry. "Heirloom" wrote in message ... Although I was not too comfortable with the content of 'certain posts' (nor
the need to air them in a WinMe NG) elsewhere in this thread, I would wholeheartedly agree with Joan's observations - and the philosophy behind your tags, HL. As I've said before - HL, your lines are worth bottling. Mart "Heirloom" wrote in message ... Thanks, Joanie. I feel like if I make, at least, one person smile everyday, I have done a service. Thanks for the "warm fuzzy", Mart. I feel as if I have a lot of wonderful
friends in the Me NG and have always felt welcome and at home here (that's why I hang around even though I have migrated to XP). Got the itch to build another box already, saw the new Abit Fatal1ty board and drooled.......it has built in eye candy! Heirloom, old and life is good, now, how to find an extra $2K "Mart" wrote in message ... Harry,
Without dl'ding and trying the software, I would not be able to give a personal assessment of its' capabilities and/or issues. I can, however, direct you to http://disk-imaging-software-review.toptenreviews.com/ , where you will see how it fares against other backup applications. A detailed review of this particular app is available at: http://disk-imaging-software-review....ws-review.html . You may note that it did not get the highest ratings. It seems to be lacking in a number of features and abilities without further downloads and add-ins. These popped up from a Google search for "Image for Windows review." I would recommend you make the same search in Google Groups to see what others are saying about it. For my money, I am staying with Acronis.
