I have removed all the spyware and viruses on this machine. Microsoft Word
2000 freezes the machine as soon as the splash screen comes up. Give it a
minute and then do a ctrl+Alt+Del and I get a message " System resources are
dangerously low. Would you like to terminate the application?" I choose yes
and the computer slowly comes around. All other applications seem to be
running fine. I have reintalled Word.

You will have the best chances of suitable answers to WORD questions if you
post in a WORD newsgroup. Select Office then WORD from the list on the left.

One frequent cause of startup problems in WORD is a corrupted default
template. Delete the file NORMAL.DOT, and try starting WORD again.

Did you completely remove Word 2000 and associated Office products in safe
mode and then reinstall what you needed after backing up any needed papers or
files to storage?
