Cannot use the Trouble Shooting
t is caused by a MS Critical Update.
The cure depends on what patch is causing you problems. Try this one first. First, click Start Settings Folder Options View tab, and click to enable "Show All Files" and click OK. Click Start Find File or Folders, and search the C:\ drive for a file named Tshoot.inf...it should be found in the \Windows\Inf folder. Right-click Tshoot.inf and click Install on the menu that appears. Close the Find Files window and try the Troubleshooter again. If still no joy,go to this page to get a download that will get your Tshooters back, but be sure to read the text file that is enclosed. http://mvps.org/PracticallyNerded/SoftFixes.htm The first file on the list. Post back here to let us know how it worked. There are two different fixes, depending on the Windows updates you have installed.
The original fix for the older update was this: First, click Start Settings Folder Options View tab, and click to enable "Show All Files" and click OK. Click Start Find File or Folders, and search the C:\ drive for a file named Tshoot.inf...it should be found in the \Windows\Inf folder. Right-click Tshoot.inf and click Install on the menu that appears. If the latest cumulative patch for Internet Explorer (November) is installed, there is only a workaround. No disrespect to PCR intended, but does he look to see if the OP has been responded to? Both Glen V. and myself answered the OP within 5 minutes of each other--with essentially the same fix. Why come by 15+ hours later, with a response twice as long, and suggesting a Registry hack as well?
