Microsoft is planning on phasing out newsgroups

glee" wrote: Why are you totally discounting the various free usenet servers? I didn't "totally discount" anything, except perhaps your reading comprehension. There are some free newsservers available....as I stated, MOST are not free. We're discussing access to the microsoft.public hierarchy. Not all the free servers carry all or some of it; not all free servers are worth diddly...neither are all the paid servers. News servers don't *all* have to be free, or *all* worth more than didly. And I don't suspect that you've tried them all, or even many of them, making your statement mostly hyperbole. Full-quoter cold-shyt spewed: glee is a 100% right 98 Guy if you like it or not! No, he's not. Not *all* free servers *need* to carry most or all of the microsoft.public hierarchy. All it takes is one free server, to carry the group or groups that *you* want to read. And he's only now admitting to trying aoie, so again he was full of shyt with his previous post. Good lord, what a freakin' idiot you are. You regularly insult Hot-text for his poor English, yet you have no comprehension of the language yourself. I did not say ALL free servers had to carry anything, I did not say ALL servers had to be free. You don't know what "most" means? As always, you twist and change what people post to suit your arguments. If you are too ignorant to read and comprehend what was written, get some remedial reading help. So I just tried aioe...so what? Where did I state anything about having used every newsserver available already, and what possible relevance does it have to the fact that not every server carries all groups or hierarchies. We don't even know which of the other servers will continue to carry the MS groups when they are closed by MS, and which will honor the closing command and drop the groups. One does not have to set up a newsserver to see what group hierarchies they carry....many list the hierarchies they carry on their web sites. All you do is post replies to stroke yourself and insult people. Buzz off. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Oct. 2002 - Sept. 2009 A+ http://dts-l.net/ |

Microsoft is planning on phasing out newsgroups
Groups like this one, where the user base is already tiny (what...maybe two dozen regular posters is all that's left here), won't see much change....it's already turned into a zoo where an increasingly large number of threads revolve around you, MEB, Sunny, and Hot-text sniping at each other and going so OT that the original poster just bows out. Once these few new posters fade out, it will just be you all taking pot shots at each other....at least that's my glimpse at where this group is heading. We'll see.... There's far too much acrimony with said posters criticising each other. The group is pretty much on it's way out anyway. -- Nuns! Nuns! Reverse |
